In slow motion
Presenting to my students a lab on organic chemistry, I paused, became clear about my intentional directions and had the feeling that I was in slow motion. The energy was calm, the work thoughtful and contributed to depth of knowledge!
Greetings, The inner experience felt as though I had the time to be an observer of myself as I was speaking. I felt my body being in alignment, grounded at the base.
My outer experience felt as if I had more eye contact with the students and there was more attention to the directions by the students.
I also began class using my chimes as usual, but taught the students how to use them. This involves posture, breath and pause. I invited students to be a guest "chimer" for the day. They all want to be that "chimmer". I chose one randomly and their attraction to that resulted in the feeling of collectivness as a groupo and connectedness to me.
Then I began the directions with the precision of speech that I referred to.
Thank you for this post Joyous Seeker.
ReplyDeleteI would like to go deeper into the pause. With precision, can you describe the inner and outer experience of pausing during direct instruction?
